GENERAL INFORMATION
When: Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, 11:30 a.m.
Where: Roy H. Cullen Academic Mall
Entry forms are now available. Print a copy of the entry form and commentary form (see "Documents" below). You may also visit the
Alumni Center (2nd Floor, Cullen Building) to receive a copy. A $25 entry fee does apply. Checks can be made payable to "Southwestern University."
Entry forms, commentary forms and the $25 entry fee are due Friday, Sept. 19, 2008 by 5 p.m. Completed applications can be returned to the Alumni Center (2nd Floor, Cullen Building).

Entry forms and commentary forms may be printed (PDF), completed by hand and returned (or mailed) to the Alumni Center (2nd Floor, Cullen Building). Forms may also be downloaded as a Word document, filled out by computer and e-mailed to Daniel Webb (webbd@southwestern.edu).

HOMECOMING PARADE SCHEDULE
The following is a list of notable dates regarding the Homecoming Parade. Parade Leaders are strongly encouraged to list these dates on personal calendars.

Friday, Sept. 19, 2008: Homecoming Parade Entry Forms, Commentary Forms and Entry Fees Due.

Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008: Parade Leaders Meeting
Alumni Center (2nd Floor, Cullen Building), Time To Be Determined.
Parade Leaders (except Alumni) are asked to attend this meeting to receive important information regarding the Homecoming Parade.

HOMECOMING PARADE RULES

Groups should incorporate the Homecoming Parade theme ("One Hit Wonders") into their entry.

Groups may be comprised of students, faculty, staff and/or alumni.

Animals are not permitted in the Homecoming Parade.

All entries who are using a vehicle must have a licensed operator. A valid driver's license and proof of current insurance must be presented during registration on parade day (Nov. 8).

All participants must complete the entire parade route.

All groups must display a banner/sign identifying their group name/organization.

Displaying or dispensing any alcoholic beverage, any drug and/or any drug paraphernalia is prohibited.

Appropriate dress is required. (Children will be present.)

The discharge of firearms, firecrackers and/or other pyrotechnics is not permitted.

Groups are responsible for obtaining and maintaining their own equipment (sound, vehicle, ect.).
-
All vehicles should be oil tight and in good mechanical condition.
JUDGING CRITERIA
Judges have a series of criteria they use during the Homecoming Parade. Judges represent members of the Southwestern community (alumni, faculty and staff). The criteria for judges is as follows:
"Performances" will include a thirty (30) second (maximum) commentary and a thirty (30) second (maximum) routine, for a total of one (1) minute. Going over the time limit will result in a 10 point deduction from the group's total score.
AWARDS and RECOGNITION
As each group approaches the Grandstand, each organization will be formally announced to spectators and judges by the Master(s) of Ceremony. Awards will be presented in the following categories:

Most Enthusiastic Entry: $100.

Most Entertaining Entry: $150.

Homecoming Parade Grand Champion: $250.
Award winners will be announced during the Homecoming Picnic, Saturday, Nov. 8 on the Roy H. Cullen Academic Mall.
