Sharida Hosein McKenzie, Austin, is assisting with a fundraiser dinner and raffle for the organization, A Glimmer of Hope (http://aglimmerofhope.org/). The organization provides support to programs that supply water and sanitation, education, health care, agricultural assistance and micro-finance opportunities all over the developing world, and right here in Austin. Yen- Hong Tran, Dallas, earned a master’s degree in education curriculum and instruction from The University of Texas at Austin and now teaches at Molina High School.
“The perfect blend” is how Kathryn “Katie” Popp ’00 describes her job. As the team lead for the Best Companies Project at
Great Place to Work® Institute, Popp works for a mission-driven organization, employing her management skills and scientific thinking for the betterment of society. The ingredients of the blend began during her years at Southwestern University.
Laura Harrison became interested in massage therapy as a way to combine her love of art with her fascination with anatomy. She is currently a tenant of Guadalupe Arts Center in Austin.
She taught her first class, served on a psychology conference panel in Peru and won a major grant to write her dissertation. All in all, it has been an exciting and eventful summer for Rice University doctoral student Jennifer Knight.
