ON CAMPUS:
2004 Brown Symposium Explores Life in the Arctic Frozen. Deserted. Barren fields of ice. These images may be conjured when thinking of the Arctic, but in reality, this beautiful region features spectacular wildlife; mineral resources; and rich, indigenous cultures. Because the extreme environment demands close interactions among its inhabitants, these relationships are the focus of Arctic Journey: Discoveries of inter-relationships in the circumpolar north, the topic of Southwestern University's 26th annual Brown Symposium, Feb. 12-13, 2004. Learn more at www.southwestern.edu/brownxxvi.
The Sarofim School of Fine Arts Presents Playhouse Creatures De Angelis' boisterous comedy Playhouse Creatures raises the curtain on the adventures of England's first actresses and gives a funny, moving account of their lives on and off the Restoration stage. Bawdy, glamorous and heartbreaking, Playhouse Creatures takes a hard look at the heroines and celebrates theatre's ability both to empower and destroy. The play is directed by Kathleen Juhl. Performance dates and times are: Feb. 20, 21, 27, 28 at 8 p.m. Feb. 22, 29 at 4 p.m. Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.
For ticket information please contact the Southwestern University Fine Arts Box Office at 512-863-1378, Monday-Friday, 1-5 p.m. The Box Office is closed during the holiday season, but will reopen January 13, 2004.

Robertson Center. As stated by the Desmond Tutu Peace Centre, “Desmond Tutu kept hope alive in the hearts and minds of millions of South Africans during Apartheid with a powerful vision that justice would come, freedom was unstoppable and one-day all South Africans would be free.” For more information on Desmond Tutu visit http://www.southwestern.edu/shilling-lectures.
