FEATURED STORIES
Annual Giving Year Comes to a Close
Alumni, parents and friends (including Foundations) of Southwestern University contributed over $8.5 million in support of our students and faculty during the 2004-2005 fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). Alumni contributions (from 32.3% of our alumni population) accounted for $1,443,987 of this total! Thank you for your generous investment in your alma mater. Membership in the President’s Council ($1,000+ donors) increased from 256 the previous year to 310 members this year, a 21% increase. Over $1.4 million of the total dollars received was directed to the University’s Annual Fund helping Southwestern meet its goal of $1.4 million. The Office of Annual Giving thanked three alumni, picked at random for making an on-line donation between June 15-30. The prize winners were
Jennifer Lott Sudkamp ’93 of Houston,
John Carpenter ’91 of Dallas, and
Katie Sherrod Bulkley ’79 of New Zealand. Thank you to all alumni, parents and friends who made gifts this year!
Submit Recipes for the "A Taste of Southwestern" Cookbook
The theme for Homecoming & Reunion Weekend this year is "A Taste of Southwestern." How better to celebrate this theme than with an alumni cookbook? Click here to see how you can submit your favorite recipes! You may submit up to five recipes for the cookbook. Alumni and friends of Southwestern can purchase a cookbook for $5.00/book when registering for Homecoming & Reunion Weekend or on campus during Homecoming festivities.
The Brightwells' Challenge To Build Habitat House
Barbara and George Brightwell will celebrate their 70th birthdays this summer. Both of the Brightwells served on staff at Southwestern. Dr. Barbara Brightwell acted as the Dean of Student Development from 1977 to 1982, and George Brightwell acted as the University Registrar from 1978 to 1997. To celebrate their seventh decade, the Brightwells are issuing a $25,000 challenge to build a Habitat House in Georgetown, Texas. It costs roughly $50,000 to build a Habitat House in Georgetown. The Brightwells are donating half of that amount. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Georgetown, Texas, asks for contributions to raise the remaining $25,000. To read more on the Brightwell's Challenge, visit http://www.sugrads.org/articles/news_from_su/brightwells_challenge.aspx.
Alumni Directory: Southwestern Forms Partnership with Publishing Concepts, Inc.
