Debbie, a professional interior designer at the start of a promising career, has come a long way since she suffered a major stroke. Her partner in the rehabilitation center is Molly, and Molly has a good-looking nephew who comes to visit regularly. Jake is between jobs and has time to entertain the two shut-ins. Through Molly's natural bossiness, she lines Jake up as Deb's caretaker while she adjusts to independent living. Jake turns out to be a lifesaver, helping Debbie live in her own home so she can go back to her design business. As her independence increases she wonders how long Jake will remain with her. Surely he must want more from life than minimum wage. Worse yet, she knows that she is falling in love with him, but he will be moving on. Helping Debbie out was a favor to his aunt. If she tells him how she feels, he'll just feel that he has to leave that much sooner. If only she can keep her strong feelings from spilling out.
"This is a wonderful story of healing and love. I am moved by Jake's sensitivity and the loving care he displayed towards Deb. Their relationship is tenderly depicted in wonderfully moving scenes. Clearly, the author understands the pain a stroke victim suffers. Deb's pain and anguish as well as her insecurities are so vividly portrayed that I am moved to tears more than once. Kudos to the author for tackling such a refreshingly original topic in a romance and doing it brilliantly and masterfully! This book is a must-read for all readers seeking something new yet emotionally powerful." Reviewed by Defelah Morgan of SIMEGEN, 4 STARS
