Dear Alumni,

Among alumni, one of the most cherished traditions has been the Christmas Candlelight Service held each December in the Lois Perkins Chapel on Southwestern’s campus. In recent years, alumni have begun to recreate the service in cities where they live. We, however, are fortunate enough to be close enough to Southwestern that we do not need to recreate the service but can attend the real thing on campus.

This year, the campus service is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 4. The University has reserved a room for us meet and have dinner together in the McCombs Center at 6:00 p.m. Afterwards, we will attend the service in the Chapel.

Please come and join us. Around the nation, Southwestern alumni have become very active in their home locals. Our proximity gives us unique opportunities to connect with one another and the university. Please come for a great evening of fellowship, tradition, and reminiscence.

I would like to invite everyone who would like to attend the Candlelight Service to meet at our home at 4:30 p.m. to drive down together. We can combine cars, save some gas, and enjoy visiting while traveling to Georgetown. We are easy to find: 506 Sun Valley Blvd, Hewitt. From I-35, take Exit 328 and drive West 8/10 of a mile on Sun Valley. We are the large red brick house with a winter rye lawn. So, the most distinguishable characteristic that you might look for is the green lawn and there is plenty of space for parking cars.

It would be great if someone in Bell County would provide a similar meeting place.

But, if it is more convenient for you, just meet us at the McCombs Campus Center. We will go through the cafeteria and share a meal in the Roy B. Shilling Room.
