February 2001 - Alumni Board requests that President Jake Schrum appoint an Alumni Self-Study Commission to develop a strategic plan for alumni
Spring 2001- Faculty, staff, and alumni leaders recommend alumni to serve on the Commission
Summer 2001 - President Schrum appoints a 15-member Commission
September 2001 - Commission convenes for first of five meetings; President Schrum charges the Commission with reviewing alumni programs, identifying all facets of Southwestern’s relationship with its alumni, finding and visiting “best practice” alumni programs, inviting leaders in the field to visit campus and critique our program, and developing and presenting strategic recommendations for alumni programming
Fall 2001 - Commission carries out charge and drafts the report
January 2002 - Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees unanimously endorses Strategic Recommendations and requests an implementation plan
March 2002 - Alumni Association Board of Directors endorses Strategic Recommendations and recommends an implementation plan
April 2002 - Strategic Recommendations and Implementation Plan unanimously accepted by the Board of Trustees
