Nominations

Eligibility: Any alumnus or alumna of Southwestern University (former students who have completed 24 credit hours) is eligible to serve in a leadership position.
The new governance structure was specifically designed to provide more opportunities for alumni to be meaningfully engaged.
Assembly
The Assembly shall be a body that represents the alumni constituency. The Assembly shall have a President, a President-Elect, a Program Chair, and a Program Chair-Elect. It shall include these officers and other members as provided in the Bylaws.
The Assembly shall meet once a year at Southwestern University to conduct the regular business of the Assembly including the election of members and officers and the business of the nominations committee. The meeting shall also include an opportunity to receive an annual report from the President of the University, the officers of the University, and the Alumni Council. Those in attendance shall constitute a quorum.
Assembly At-Large Delegates shall:
Represent the interests of the Association at Assembly meetings
Nominate an Assembly At-Large Delegate.
Alumni Council
The Alumni Council shall be a fifteen (15) member body elected as provided in the Bylaws that coordinates activities of the Association and unites the alumni base. The Alumni Council shall be comprised of the Assembly officers and other members as provided in the Bylaws.
The Alumni Council shall meet at least three (3) times per year to conduct the regular business of the Association.
Duties of Alumni Council Officers
The duties of each officer shall include an obligation to fulfill the responsibilities of their office with diligence and care, in a manner that is consistent with the Core Values of Southwestern University.
The President of the Alumni Council shall:

Oversee the business of the Association

Serve as the Association’s primary liaison to the University and Office of Alumni Relations

Serve as an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees

Present a formal report on the Association of Southwestern University Alumni to the Board of Trustees on a recurring basis not less than once per year

Serve as a member of the Board of Trustees Nominations Committee
The President-Elect of the Alumni Council shall:

Serve as an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees

Serve as a member of the Board of Trustees Institutional Advancement Committee

Serve as the Finance Chair for the Alumni Council, conducting the financial affairs of the Association

Share the duties of representing the Association as requested by the President
