Apply for the James Robert Andrews Endowed Fellowship

The James Robert Andrews Endowed Fellowship was established by family and friends of James Robert "Jim Bob" Andrews '04, in memory of his strength, courage, determination and intellectual curiosity. A member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, Jim Bob was a political science major and communications minor. Jim Bob entered Tulane University Law School in Fall 2005. After safely evacuating from New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, he was in a diving accident that resulted in a spinal cord injury. He was making tremendous strides in rehabilitation when he died suddenly due to medical complications. This Fellowship was created to assist other Southwestern University alumni in their quest to earn a graduate degree.

The Fellowship of $1500, may be used to fund a portion of educational costs including tuition, fees, living expenses, books and other required fees. Preferences will be given to fellowship applicants who are able to provide evidence of a well-rounded education. This might include experiences through internships, research experiences, and/or intercultural experiences.

Applicants for the Fellowship must be:

  1. Pursuing a graduate or professional school degree at any accredited college or university.
  2. A senior at Southwestern University or a graduate within the last two years.

Proof of enrollment in a graduate or professional program must be received by the Fellowship Committee before funds will be released.

Click here to download a copy of the James Robert Andrews Endowed Fellowship application. Applications must be received by April 21, 2006. A committee composed of faculty, alumni, staff and family or friends of James Robert Andrews will review applications. The James Robert Andrews Endowed Fellowship awardee will be notified no later than May 5, 2006.
